Hi! I am making a Captain America cake where the top of the cake is his shield. What is the best way to get clean lines. I was thinking fondant or BCT. Both make me nervous.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I think fondant but if your good with BCTs then go for it. I prefer fondant because i can fix it better if there are mistakes or I dont like the way it looks.

I did one on the side of this cake, but same idea.

Roll out fondant with some tylose added to it. Place on dusted cake cardboard, cut out circles and stars, then freeze. If cutting freehand with an exacto knife, freeze before cutting. After about 10-15 minutes, remove from freezer and assemble the cutouts and place on cake while still firm from freezer. This helps them keep from getting distorted.
