I have a large wedding cake order and the bride wants a 4 tier hexagon shape cake. She also requested to rent a silver cake stand. I need to purchase one and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I am looking at buying a silver drum style stand but what shape stand should I use? Round or square? The hexagon cake pan set has the largest/bottom tier measuring 15" so my stand will need to be fairly large.

Any and all suggestions regarding shape are welcome.

Thank you,
Lisa

It really depends on what you prefer - - the round stand will emphasize the round and the square stand will emphasize the corners. You'll need it at least the size of your bottom cake board, but it might be wise to get it a couple of inches larger - - you'll use it more. If you do more round cakes than square like most of us do, I'd get a round one. HTH

id go with an 18" stand. If you go with a square stand you can put round or hex wedding cakes on it, but if you go with a round stand you will only be able to put round or hex cakes on it and not square cakes. I know some people do but it just doesn;t look right and it really irks me to see that. So id recommend and 18" square stand. Check out His designs LLC at www.weddingcakestands.com

I would go with an 18" or 20" Square Stand bc you can use it for various shaped cakes and never go wrong with it.

They have some nice ones here: www.cakesuppliesplus.com

Thank you for the advice. I think I will go with the 18" or 20" square silver drum. You all have been very helpful.
