Can I use WASC cake recipes for cupcakes? Has anyone tried this ? Please let me know.... Thanks.
Yes you can use WASC recipes for cupcakes. I have found some recipes will rise more and others may be flat, depending on the flavor.
Oh certainly it can Of course the baking time will have to be adjusted but the *original* WASC recipe makes wonderful cuppies.
I hate it for cupcakes. It has never worked for me. 350, 325, 400 then jack the oven down. No dice. They always come out rubbery and spongy and too light. A lot of other people have complained about that too. Do a Google search on WASC cupcakes and type cc in the domain box.
At any rate, if I am forced to do cupcakes (which I hate anyway), and I do most for free, I just use straight up box mix. No extras added. Guess what? They turn out just fine. Well, no cupcake is ever fine with me, but you get what I'm saying.
So then whats the best white or yellow cupcake recipe ? I would really like a scratch or doctored scratch recipe.
I have to make about 60 for a family shower.
I use the WASC recipe for cupcakes all of the time. Works beautifully. I bake at 350F if I want a dome, 325F if I want them flat. Nice texture as well.
