Hi everyone!

One of my clients is requesting a birthday cake for her mother. She wants it to have all of the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids names on it (31 names in total). I talked to her about a family tree cake (like many on here) but she didn't like the idea of a tree...she wants some elegant and clean.

Anyone have any ideas or pictures? Everything I sketch out looks too busy because of all of the names.

Thanks!

I did one like that years ago. Don't think I still have a picture. Anyway, I put Happy Birthday and the usual bc flowers on the top of the top tier. (It was two tiers as I recall.) and then just wrote all the names on the sides of the cake at various angles.

Maybe a hexagon cake -or square, if you tier it then you can put just a few names on each side (maybe kids on smaller tier, and grandkids on bottom)....then decorate top with flowers -or something pretty....also if you do white on white -it's elegant lookings and cuts down on the busyness....

If you use fondant, maybe you could put names in little gold frames.

Hi,

I think if you do a nice round tiered cak would look really nice. Do you know how some wedding cakes look when they have all the sayings on them like " I love you, forever together etc etc...and it goes all around the cake on all or some of the tiers. I think i saw an example in the Wilton Books of what I'm saying inside on the pages with tiered cake examples/ideas.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to play around with a few of your suggestions and see what I can come up with.
