Ruffles going up or ruffles going down?

I'm doing my first show next weekend and playing around with ruffles on my tiers, both in buttercream, and in fondant. Not sure which i'm leaning to but in my area, buttercream is more preferred, so i'm leaning towards that. However, i played around with ruffles going up using tip 104 but also, going down and i like them both directions.... What's the trend these days for bridal? Which way should i do my dummy cake?

Sweetscene,
Personally I think ruffles facing up are more modern and facing down are more traditional. I would look at the other sample cakes you're doing and if you're doing mostly traditional, I'd do an up ruffle. If you already have a modern cake, I'd do a down. Also consider your personal style. I think ruffles in general are in so either would be cool.
