I've volunteered to do a crafting session for a bunch of adult volunteers (sort of a team building event). I'll have an hour+ to work with and about 20 adults. Any ideas/pictures? I thought we could do a couple of stations to make a few different cupcakes. Maybe going over each station & the tools at each before dividing them up? What do you think?
That sounds like a great idea. I allows you to let ppl in on what you do, could bring potential customers and at the same time yr supporting your event
your setup sounds fine. Incorporate different edibles too that they can play with ie: dragees, sprinkles, sugar pearls etc
are you wanting them to make toppers? Hmm... if I was doing it, I would have them all sit down and make two toppers (that's probably all the time you'd have). Maybe a quick rose, like this one:

And for the other, perhaps provide them with some cutters.
Then have the icing already in the bags ready to pipe. Do a very quick demo on a basic swirl, rose, or whatever else you think they'd like to do, then let them have at it! Perhaps provide take-home boxes for sale, or giveaway, however you're doing it.
I have been approached to do the very same thing for my neighborhood Women's Association. I was thinking about teaching them the basic swirl, the rose swirl and a simple drop flower. I am afraid that just learning to handle the piping bags will be time consuming enough so I will not do any fondant toppers.
I may introduce two-toned techniques and leaves. Can't wait to hear how your event turns out.
Good luck
