I love the Hershey's choc cake recipe but it does not seem to me to b very sturdy for carving/holding up tiers. I thought I read somewhere on here that if u add extra flour and sugar it will make the cake more sturdy?? Idk I really don't want to try a new recipe but am open to ALL suggestions icon_smile.gif

Which Hershey's chocolate cake recipe are you using? They have a lot of variations on their website. I'm not sure that adding more sugar would help make it more sturdy - sugar generally makes a cake more moist. Adding more flour would probably work, but you might end up with a tough, chewy cake. And more of either flour or sugar will affect the taste of the cake.

If the recipe uses oil, I would replace it with melted butter. Or try adding an extra egg. There have been other posts about the correct ratios a cake recipe should have, so I would start there to see how much you can change the cake recipe without ruining the balance. Shirley Corriher's book BakeWise also has a lot of good information about it.

Hope that helps and good luck!
