How Do I Get Powdered Sugar Off Of Gumpaste?

I am making a gumpaste shoe as a cake topper for my mom's birthday cake. I am making the shoe black and am struggling with getting the powdered sugar off the gumpaste, any suggestions?
Hi
Use a little shirtening on a brush and it will come off. Dont worry about the shine thats left behind bc it will dissolve after a while like nothing was even on it.
HTH
I steam all of my gumpaste decorations. It makes them shiny but that will even dull a little after they dry. I also love the way they look once steamed, more smooth and realistic.

How do you steam the gumpaste and will it work on fondant???
I don't have a steamer, but for small fondant pieces, I hold them over a pot of steaming water for a few seconds. Works wonders
