Why is the cakecentral.com homepage blacked out?
There are currently 2 bills about to go before congress known as PIPA (Protect IP Act) and SOPA (Senate and the Stop Online Piracy)
The names of these bills are misleading. I think we can all agree that stealing is wrong, and online piracy is bad. These bills, however, will not stop any of those things from happening, what it will do is effectively shutdown thousands (if not millions) of websites we love, including websites like facebook, google, AND CakeCentral.com.
If these bills pass, it will have a far-reaching negative impact on everyone in the sugar/cake industry everywhere in the world, not just in the USA.
The Senate will begin voting on January 24th. Please let them know how you feel. Sign this petition urging Congress to vote NO on PIPA and SOPA before it is too late.
We are only blacking out the homepage for 24 hours. If these bills pass, can you imagine all of CakeCentral blacked out forever?
