Where to get wires?

Wondering where to get wires for a cake... the type or wires you put stars etc on....

You can get them from your local cake supply store or craft stores too. Also, you can try online, try www.cakeconnection.com or www.globalsugarart.com or Ebay

Some others may have other websites that you can check out too.

Thank you for your reply. If I go to a craft store, what gauge do I get and what department will I find them in?

Gauge will depend on your use, but at my Michael's they are on the same aisle as the styrofoam

I've only seen covered wires there, but to be honest, I didn't look that hard before. I'll call them tomorrow and ask, because I don't live near the craft store (Michael's). That's for your info, ladies!

The ones I got from Micheals were found in the floral dept. They a called "floral stem wires" and I cover then with chocolate before I put then on my cake. They are not covered in paper. I havent use those before but i guess they would operate the same way.

Oh, thanks so much! I think I might actually have some of those wires... you really triggered my memory!

But you cover them in chocolate before you push them into the shapes you use? Do you cover them in chocolate by dipping them? (I know I have a million questions...)

Cool, glad I could help. Yes, I dip the part of the wire that will come in contact with my cake that way the actual wires are not in contact with the cake. 9 times out of 10, the stars on yr cake that will have the wire attached will not be eaten BUT, if you think that they will be consumed then dip that part as well icon_smile.gif
