I had this idea to form a marshmallow into a ball to make a body and had no idea if it would hold up or even work.I want to make an owl body out of marshmallow and then cover in icing or . Will that work?

Hi,
I'm not sure that that will rok. i say this bc i was thinking about how you could make a marshmellow into a ball w/o heating it. In order to get a good size owl body/ball, you would have to use a good amount of marshmellows, well depending on how big you want the owl. then you would have to get them to adhere to each other. I think heating them would be the only way to do. I COULD BE WRONG!! But, if its true, i would think that you would have a big blob and sticky mess on yr hands to try and mold it.
Maybe someone else would has done this or at least attempted will chime in.
Good Luck.

I thank you for your help. I just had this idea and I've never used marshmallow or even made it before. I was looking for something that would be easy to make into the body. I guess I'm back to carving the body. It scares me since I have only carved one and that was just a few weeks ago. Any other ideas would be good. Thank you again for your advice and knowledge.

I agree with Annie,
Use rice krispy treats. I buy the pre-made generic ones and they work great for this kind of stuff.

Yr welcome
I agree with the others, I use RKTs ALOT for my figures, I too get the pre-made ones from the store., just fondant but in yr case I would use Rkts bc its easy to form a big ball and its every strudy as well. I didnt mention the RKTs before bc you were asking about marshmellow, guess I should have included it anyway, lol. But, using rkts would be a really good idea. then you can cover it with fondant and decorate.

I am making a real size water meter, I the two ends of the meter are a piece of pipe where the water flows through. I need some ideas for these pipes, I was thinking gumpaste or rice krispies but not sure which would be better, the pipe needs to stick out for the middle of the cake at both ends...Please send all ideas also what do I use on rice krispies if I want to cover the shape (pipes) in fondant? Thanks all
