Silver chocolate

Hello, I need to make tools, like a hammer, screwdriver, etc for a birthday cake. I would like to use chocolate, but how do I make the chocolate silver? Thanks for your help! You guys are wonderful

You can paint them with silver luster/pearl dust mixed with vodka.
No pressure... no diamonds.

I think that if you paint silver on it will bead up, but if you dust it on dry it will stick.

It will definitely bead up. I tried painting veins on leaves with 23K edible gold, and it just would not stay where I wanted it to.

I would use sheets of real silver if you want that chrome-like shine. Otherwise the commercial edible silver paint will give you a metallic grey (it is not water soluble).

You can use melted cocoa butter mixed with silver lustre dust -- it provides a "wet" paint that won't bead. Or you can try the colored cocoa butters available at Chef Rubber. I believe they have silver. You can also drydust -- that looks awesome too. Lots of options! icon_biggrin.gif

You can buy super -thin sheets of real silver and gold. Edible. I use it on the sides of some wedding cakes, but its commonly used kind of loosely arranged on top of specialty gateaux and desserts, as well as other food applications.

Bobwonderbuns is right too - probably easiest using dry dust, or mixing luster dust with an oil. I have used it with plain vegetable oil and it works fine, just don't touch it after you've applied it!

I use Super Pearl Luster Dust ( brushed on dry) on chocolate or chocolate fondant for a pretty antique silver color. The more you brush on, the brighter the silver effect. Hope it works for you.
