Other than piping gel, what else can I use to attach sugar sheets to cookies? Would a royal icing glaze work without ruining the sheet?

There are 2 types, Frosting sheets or rice paper sheets if using frosting sheets you can place them right on the wet royal icing in using rice paper sheet this does not work since the sides tend to curl up. My solution to this is when placing the rice paper in wet icing then immediately pip the border to hold down the edges. I see that almost everywhere people wait for the base coat of icing to dry before placing the edible image I NEVER wait and it works fine plus it is much quicker. If you do this keep the RI on the stiffer side so the image doesn't sink into it works perfect.
