Bubble Tea Straws for Wedding Cake Supports?

I'm delivering my first paid wedding cake next weekend. I usually use bubble tea straws as supports for most of my small two and three tier cakes. I love them because they're so easy to cut to the correct length. This cake is not huge (10" 8" 6" and 4"). Will these supports be sturdy enough to hold the weight?

I used them on this wedding cake which is the same size you are going to do and it worked just fine.

I've used them on a 7 tier. Wouldn't have done it if I doubted them in the slightest. icon_smile.gif

Do you guys mind sharing where you get them? I wanted to use them for some cakes last year, but I was having trouble running them down, so I gave up and used plastic dowels. Do you just order them off Ebay? I can't remember why I didn't do Ebay last year - maybe it was the shipping or the minimum quantity that made it a less attractive deal? Thanks guys!

I found them in a little Asian grocery market for $1.29 for a pack of 40

I bought milkshake straws in Bed Bath and Beyond. They are the same thickness

I have bought bubble tea straws and while I like them, I find the heavy duty drinking straws provide just as much support and cost A LOT less! Admittedly, I use a few more per tier, but not enough to start to offset the cost savings.

I get them off Amazon a lot, or ebay, depending on who is cheaper at the time.
I put one straw per inch of cake that sits on top of it, sometimes an extra or two if I am feeling extra paranoid that day icon_lol.gif

I used to get them from Amazon, from a seller called Boba Tea Direct, but I did a little digging, and it was cheaper to order direct from them, so I do that now. Lightning fast shipping too.

I get mine from Panera. They give me a good fist-full which lasts a while since I don't do a ton of cakes. icon_smile.gif
