My in laws have a cute little house on top of a mountain. Well, unfortunately they are selling as it's harder to take care of 2 homes as they get older & this is the last weekend were all going up to stay before the closing. Was thinking of making a cake but am a little stumped on what to do. I'd like to incorporate a mountain but have a simple cake due to time & size. Any suggestions?
Do you have a doll cake pan, or anything you can use to easily make a similar dome shape? Maybe even stack a Bundt, a round and a cupcake or something like that. You can "rough up" the surface and do a "messy" icing job to mimic rocks and dirt, maybe pipe some green clumps or use plastic trees, and put a little house on top. The house could be fondant or modeling chocolate, or a cookie made with a house-shaped cutter, but if you make it small it doesn't have to be too detailed.
