Hello,
I am planning on making a strawberry version of the WASC cake from a recipe that I found here on CC...except that I don't have and am unable to find strawberry extract. The recipe calls for 2 tsp of strawberry extract...I do however, have some strawberry flavored Lorann oil. How much of the flavored oil would you wise bakers use in place of the strawberry extract...or is this a bad idea? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
I found the answer...duh! I googled Lorann Oils and their website gave me the info I needed.
Just in case anyone else needs this:
When substituting their flavored oils for extracts:
Use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon flavored oil for every 1 teaspoon of extract
HTH
Thanks!
You may want to do a test run on this. I used that same one the other day to flavor buttercream and it tasted so bad I had to throw the icing out. It reminded me of cherry nyquil but strawberryish and worse than nyquil. It's very very strong even in small amounts. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. Maybe fine in cake....let me know how it turns out.
