First Attempt At Gelatin Butterflies

Below is my first attempt at Gelatin Butterflies.
I used two great tutorials:
1) I used a great 14 step tutorial on Flickr that uses Diane Simmons' technique
2) I also used a video on Diane's site to give me a live version of how to prep the gelatin. The video is about making gelatin flowers but is is great at showing how to prep the gelatin and ways to decorate the final product.
I used Knox brand unflavored gelatin and it worked great. Airbrush colors worked the best at coloring the gelatin. I used a black food marker to do the outlining and white petal dust mixed with vodka to paint the dots.
It is my plan to learn at least one new technique a month. I'll post any tips, tricks and tutorials I find.
This has been on my to do list for the longest time, but haven't gotten around to doing it. Those turned out great!
Those butterflies are AMAZING!! Glad you enjoyed my tutorial. Yep, that was me!! I also posted it on my blog. I'm sooo glad it worked for you!! Congrats!! I hope to see many more beautiful gelatin creations from you!!
