ball cake - raw in the middle

Help!
First time using ball pan from Wilton. I filled it 2/3 full, it is baking at 350 for 45 min already and the middle is completely raw. What am I doing wrong?

There must be something wrong with the temp in your oven because that pan should be almost baked at 45 minutes at 350...Turn it up and keep baking until a toothpick comes out clean.I would test your oven though...

i never had an issue with any other cakes, they usually bake as supposed to - 25-28min..
i'm a bit afraid to crank it up, because the sides are getting crispy...
i still have time to rebake if i have to..

Hmmm..I don't know what else to suggest...I have baked that pan many times and it never takes that long at that temp..but everyone's ovens are different.Hope it all works out!!

i ended up cutting off the dome and under that the cake was fine.
was i supposed to use a heating core?

There is no core for that pan but rather 2 halves that you bake on rings...You don't need cores...Are you sure it is the Wilton Ball pan?

aha the ring!
forgive my ignorance what is the ring? my pan didn't come with the one. and yes it is wilton.

It comes with two rings besides the two halves..You set each ball half on the ring to keep it level while baking...Here is a link to show you...

no, mine is a soccer ball pan and i just have 1half - it was sold as a half at michaels.

Oh..so it has the marking on it for a soccer ball?That pan doesn't require a core either...and it has a built in stand to hold it up..
