I just recently got the Canon MG5220 and I am ordering my edible inks and papers. I was looking into pricing for these edible images and wondered what is the average most of you charge and also on average how many printings you get from your ink cartridge. I know the number of printings will help me determine a cost for my area. Thanks to all in advance!
we bought a Canon IP3600 and have probably printed around 100 images. So far we still are no where near through our first set of cartridges. We generally charge around $15 (AUD) whereas generally they go for around $20-25 (AUD) per image.
The number of prints per cartirdge vary based on what you are printing. Colors will run through at different rates. Cartridge type has a lot ot do with it as well. There are sponged cartridges and sponge free cartridges. The sponge free have a lot more usable ink than the sponged. We ran an experiment here and we used a full page full color rainbow. This will cause ink to run out much faster than your normal everyday prints. WE found the sponged cartridges yeiled 19 prints before they ran out of yellow and the sponge free yieled 39 before the yellow ran out. Yellow was the first color to run out on both cartridges. But again, you will get a lot more prints per cartridge with normal printing. We ran a conservative figure and tell people to count on your costs to be $2/print. This will allow for overall problems that may occur since sometimes you mess up a print. If you use this as your guide, you will be fine. I hope this is helpful.
Wow- thanks for the info! I just ordered a Canon IP3600 too, and the ink and paper from icingimages....got it today!!!! Can't wait to start using it!
I too have the Canon Mg5220, ink is anywhere from 60-75 per set. Does anyone know where you can get the ink without the sponges?
I see your in Alabama Mrs. O, nice to meet you. Are you in the North AL area? I get requestes every now and again and would be interested in ordering a sheet locally instead of on line. Our Walmart will not sell sheets without buying the cake and our Dairy Queens is always broke.

Hey wespam, sorry to just now be replying to this. We are located in east central alabama, in Oxford. Nice to see someone else from Bama on here!
It's VERY worthwhile to buy the spongeless cartridges and refill inks in bottles.
You only need one set of cartridges for printing, and a set filled with cleaner for cleaning the heads.
The local market here sells theirs for $5 a sheet.
Which one Publix or Winn Dixie or other? and how do you give them the image to use?

I've also read that he sponge ones are more likely to harbor bacteria.
