Could anyone please suggest a simple, plain, ordinary, basic Vanilla Cup Cake Recipe?

That is all I am after.

Was rather staggered by all the wonderful variations on the site but would like the basic recipe.

Many thanks.

4 oz room temp unsalted butter
4 oz caster sugar
2 eggs
4 oz self-raising flour sifted
1 tsp good quality vanilla (or sub with one vanilla bean)
1 - 2 tbsp milk

Cream butter and sugar until pale. Beat in the eggs, a little at a time. Mix in the vanilla. Fold in the flour, add a little milk until the mixture is of a dropping consistency. Spoon into cases. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 10-15 mins. Makes approximately 12.

Well, if 4oz is the same as 125g, then that's the recipe I use - except I bake mine on a lower temp (about 155c) as this gives a flatter top, which I prefer.
