I am making a wedding cake for a friend and she wants white cake with black confetti baked in. I have searched and can not find the best way to achieve that. Has anyone made a black confetti cake? I would appreciate any ideas or tips. Thanks
You'd need to mix these http://www.fancyflours.com/Nonpareils-Black-4-oz-jar/productinfo/5650NPBK1/ or these http://www.fancyflours.com/Nonpareils-Black-4-oz-jar/productinfo/5650NPBK1/ into the batter. Definitely do a test run. Personally, I think it will look gross.
The "stick" type sprinkles (jimmies) will work better than the ball ones... the color likes to come off the ball ones and streak.
I would do a test run and see what it looks like. I agree with Diane. I don't think it will look very good because they'll probably turn into blue streaky patches. Its definitely worth trying though!
Try dusting them with flour to avoid that streaking, cause by the wet batter. I would do the jimmies as well over the balls.
I agree that it sounds like it would be gross looking. But just stirring jimmies in will work just fine.
