(back story, small back yard DYI wedding for my BFF)

She wants to do cupcakes and I showed her the cake shooters ( I think a mix of looks is prettier then just 100 all the same looking cupcakes) and she really like that idea, but she asked how do you set them out of the guests?

Good question I am not sure - Now I dont think we would do a ton of them, I think we are going for a mix of looks so it's not like we have to do 100 shooters, but how would you display 25- or maybe even 50 shooters

Styaform? In a vase?

Since it's a Small DIY wedding I dont want to make things too complicated or $$$

Side note - I am also trying to talk her into the layered cupcakes in a clear plastic cup that someone suggested I think that would be easy and cost effective, but since I love a multi look makes some normal cupcakes, some layered cupcakes and some cupcakes shooters would be really cute

Maybe a nicely wrapped styrofoam block matching the wedding colors? They are pretty easy to poke into styrofoam and should not topple over.

You could do a small bucket filled with sand or sugar and just stick them down inside.

I hope someone sees this and can answer ....

ok so it looks like you have to put together the cake shooter/ push pop - could we make them in the cup and have them just stand there and when ppl pick one up insert the stick? I am not sure how easy the sticks are to get into position, I dont want ppl having to struggle, but if it is not a big deal.....

I wish I could get my hands on just one so I could play around w/ them.. I am guessing joanns or michael dont have these yet huh, online order only?

I personally wouldn't do it, especially if there are a lot of elderly people there. Try to figure out how long the stick portion is, and go get some glass containers that are just a bit higher than that. If you have a lot in one container you don't have to worry about them standing up as they will support each other (aww).

I don't see Joann's or Michael's carrying these. They are not really that trendy yet and so far I have only seen them available to order from restaurant or kitchen suppliers. I know you aren't wanting to spend a lot of money, but have you seen the prices of the containers? The last time I looked I thought they were way overpriced for a bunch of plastic. And if I remember correctly, you have to order like a billion at a time. If it were me, I would do cupcakes with different decorations. They are less of a PITA and there is no guesswork in eating one, LOL.

Good luck!

I can see how ppl even the young one might have a hard time w/ intserting the stick, I was hoping it might be easier than I thought (while already filled, I am sure empty and upside down it's a breezy)

Amazon has them for about a dollar and free shipping ( 24 of them for about 27 bucks) That's not too bad, I think we can get a cute look w/ out them, but my friend seemed pretty interested in them so if she is willing to pay, that is not too bad of a price. Those really cute cupcake wrappers (those big thick fancy one that I dont think you bake in you just place them in can go for about the same. on amazon, but we might be able to get those at a craft store for better w/ a coupon!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001HJARBU/?tag=cakecentral-20

Part of my is thinking of just getting a set on amazon to play with and let her know if it's gonna be more of a pain than it's worth and then I could always keep the left over ones for my kids daycare for the next class party, so it would not be a complete waste of money.

I am really excited to help her w/ this, she and her soon to be hubby are not the biggest cake ppl and they did not want a cake at all, so I am happy she was cool w/ cupcakes and she did not want to pay 3 buck a cupcake, so I think I can help her but at the same time I dont want to have us doing the cuppies to be more pricey than the local baker lady (even though making something your self can add value in your eyes)

Thank you guys so much for helping me, I am a braidsmaid in the wedding so I cant spend the whole day w/ cuppies at some point I'll have to get dressed and put on a decent looking face and hair! I want to get as much of the work done in advance.

I made my own wedding cake so I know what you are talking about. If you are making the shooters you should be able to do those WELL in advance since they will be sealed. You can even do cupcakes the day before as long as you have everything ready.

Good luck!

I know what a shooter is but I'm wondering how easy they are to eat; do you push them up and eat them off the container (like a popsicle) or do you use a fork?

Yes, they are like push pops. It's cake in a push pop container.
