Hey everyone
I am in a bad need of your advice, its my first time to participate in an event to show my work in. its a two days event that I'll sell my work in, I am planning to sell cookies, cupcakes, cakepops and lollipops. I want to know how to arrange for such event? I'll never be able to make everything one day before the event, and if I made the cupcakes 3 or 4 days before the event and I saved them in the fridge, I'll not be able to decorate them on the night before the event. the same thing for the cookies. so what do you suggest. (note that everything is christmase themed so I'll need too much time to decorate and I'll make about 100 cupcake daily)
I'll appreciate any help!
thanks!
Before you participate you should make sure you can legally sell food in your area (assuming you don't already have a licensed commercial kitchen) and that you protect yourself with liability insurance.
Cupcakes can easily be baked and decorated several days in advance (or longer) and kept frozen until 24 hours before the event, that should help with time management.
If you plan on decorating the cookies, use royal icing instead of buttercream. It lasts longer.
Depending on the decorations you plan for the cookies it might look much nicer if you use fondant. Cut it out w/the same cookie cutter and lay it on the cookie as soon as it comes out of the oven.
Forget the frig! That will actually dry out the cuppies. Instead freeze them - well wrapped of course.
The cookies, cakepops and lollipops can be made up to 5 days in advance - cookies freeze well that will free up the last day or two before the event to make the cuppies and you can just leave them boxed on the counter.
