Can anyone recommend an inexpensive airbrush machine that works well? I don't want to invest a lot in this, but am thinking someone can recommend a decent brand/model.

I have heard of individuals using the 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby and purchasing those. I haven't tried it but thought about it. I do believe that I read somewhere that you have to purchase special types of food coloring for airbrush guns possibly found on ebay? Not sure of it all as I said, but I am interested. Will you share how it works out for you?

I used a Michael's coupon and got a Duff airbrush 40% off. It's working fine for me. I bought a twelve pack of airbrush colors from GSA, I haven't tried them yet.

I bought the Duff airbrush at Michael's, too. I'm just a hobby baker, so I didn't want to invest too much money. I've only done one cake, and it worked fine. Here's the cake:

It's so well done! Did you carve the cake for the ship?

Sorry, Designdiva, I hadn't seen there were was a question. Yes, the ship is carved cake. I kept it low and wide because it had to travel, and I didn't want it to fall over.

Thanks poohsmomma!

sberryp.. what brand of airbrush did you buy from ebay?

The Duff one is $129 at Michaels and using the 40% off brings it down to $77.40 plus tax.

Michaels also has 50% off coupons sometimes so then it would be $64.50.

I am thinking about getting the Duff machine... since $64.50 seems like a great deal!

Ok, I just have to post a "belated" reply to this. I bought the Pegasus airbrush, cheaper than what I found on the design-me-a-cakesite or the same, but with duff's labeling from Michaels before I saw the Michaels post. The clincher is, lucky some here got it half price at Michaels. When I saw the duff labeled at Michaels they had a large fluorescent green sign on the shelf "AS SEEN ON TV" next to the airbrush. Well, I was reading the find print on the 40% off paper they give with your current purchase and it clearly states this 40% cannot be used on AS SEEN ON TV items. All you who got your duff airbrush with a discount were Lucky Ducks. I have a feeling ourlocal Michael's store management found a way not to sell it for full price! Just an FYI, thought you might like to know.
