what is your favorite cake decorating tool? - Page 3

Hi Everyone! I'm sooooo sorry for not responding -- it says I'm still watching this topic but I haven't received any notices!! icon_cry.gif

Now what was the question -- my cake deco books I just cannot live without? Well I will tell you, I own TONS and TONS of them, but there are a handful that I consider essentials and I find myself referring to them often. In no particular order, they are:

The International School of S * g * r C r * f t, book three, New skills and Techniques. I do a lot of fondant work and I just love the unending source of ideas I find there. http://www.amazon.com/International-School-Sugarcraft-Techniques-Sugarcrafts/dp/1740453069/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322427054&sr=8-1

Romantic Wedding Cakes by Kerry Vincent. Another great "how to make your cakes look fabulous" how-to book for fondant lovers. http://www.amazon.com/Romantic-Wedding-Cakes-Kerry-Vincent/dp/B0067757W6/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322427102&sr=1-2

The Contemporary Cake Decorating Bible by Lindy Smith. It's her newest book and has lots of fun ideas and alternative ways to use your cake toys. Another fondant lover's book. http://www.amazon.com/Contemporary-Cake-Decorators-Bible-Techniques/dp/0715338374/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322427136&sr=1-1

Cake Couture by Annie Dam. I really like this book because it teaches newer ideas that are popular right now (certain kinds of ruffles, feathers, animal prints, etc.) and shows how to do them. It's a new release, just came out. http://www.amazon.com/Cake-Couture-Modern-Sugar-craft-Stylish/dp/1554079497/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322427164&sr=1-1

Last but certainly not least, this may well be my favorite of all time (next to the first two books I mentioned) -- "Fantasy Art and Sugar, a Sweet Expression" by Marco Antonio Lopez Sanchez and Sonia Escobar Castrillon. They originally wrote this book to promote a line of products they had. I bought a fan mold and a butterfly mold from the collection. I don't know what happened but their line of products is no longer around. However, it's one of the best "how to" make your cakes look fabulous with lots and lots of how to instructions. You can use their how to use a lace press mold instructions with your own lace molds, you don't necessarily need theirs. I've gotten lots of ideas from it and continue to refer to this book often. It's expensive but well worth it. http://www.amazon.com/Fantasy-Art-Sugar-Sweet-Expression/dp/958337587X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322427197&sr=1-1

So put that on your Christmas wishlist! icon_biggrin.gif

Is it really better than silicon or plastic or wood? Where did you get it?
