castle cake that's not from the Wilton pans

Thread Starter
I want to make a castle cake and have looked at pages and pages of photos on CC but most seem to have been made by using the Wilton pans which I don't like. Can anyone direct me to castle cake photos that were made without using these pans? Or, is there a way to narrow my search of the photos so they don't include the Wilton cakes? Thanks

I have one on my blog thegracefuldotblogspotdotcom in the pictures, I did fondant with a brick motif and added a turret.

Cal java online has styrofoam ones you can decorate however you want and add it to a cake. Then the bday person can keep it!

Mrsmudrash on Cake Central made a beautiful castle cake (pics are in her gallery) and has a tutorial on her website: http://jessicakesblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/castle-cake.html
She doesn't use the Wilton pan and it's the prettiest castle cake I've seen!

Made this castle in 1999, trust me no Wilton castle set, just round pans and cleaned concentrated juice cans. I did use Wilton decorations LOL!

I've done two without the Wilton kit.
The first one was pretty large. I used a two-layer quarter sheet for the bottom and a 6" round for the top. I used cake cones for the towers and sugar cones for the turrets. Iced in buttercream and impressed with a brick impression mat. Here's how it looked:

The second was much smaller. A two-layer 6" cake for the castle. Fondant wrapped around paper towel rolls for the towers. Sugar cones for the turrets. Again in buttercream with impressed bricks. Here's how it looked:
