I'm working out a new cake flavor, hot chocolate. I'd love to find a marshmallow type filling for it. Does anyone have a good recipe for something like this? TIA!!

And this is one from here...
(I like the one with Marshmallow cream though)

Marshmallow Buttercream

Ingredients
1c Crisco
2 lb powdered sugar
1- 1 1/2 t flavoring (your choice)
pinch of salt
PIPING HOT 1/4 c water and 1/4 c milk
roughly 4-5 oz giant marshmallows

Instructions
Cream Crisco and salt
1.Slowly add sugar and liquids, alternating. Frosting should be creamy, not thin, so ajust your liquid as needed. Ive found mixing water and milk keeps a better consistancy.
2.Melt marshmallows in the microwave, about 20 seconds, in a bowl with your flavoring. They should be very soft, but not completely melted.
3.STIR IN, do NOT use blender! Add food coloring if necessary. Even with regular vanilla, it makes a perfect shimmery white.

Thank you so much, mplaidgirl2!! Recipes I found online all had egg whites and I wasn't interested in going down that road. I'll test them both out and let you know. Thanks, again!!

Has anyone tried making the Marshmallow buttercream with butter only? I find that Crisco makes the icing waxy/greasy film.

I make my filling for my Whoopie Pies, which is marshmallow butter cream, with butter, confectioner's sugar, marshmallow fluff and vanilla.

@ seedrv Would you be willing to share your hot chocolate cake recipe?

Hi cole10. The recipe right now is just a myth in my head. Sams Club had Land o Lakes hot chocolate for sale and I was thinking of incorporating the hot chocolate into a chocolate cake (probably as prepared and cooled) Thought it might be a different flavor I could use around the Holidays.
I'll be happy to share if I get something tasteful!

Cocoa Cake

2 chocolate cake mixes (milk chocolate is probably best)

1 2/3 c flour

1 2/3 c sugar

2/3 c dry hot cocoa mix

1 1/2 t salt

2 2/3 c hot cocoa (prepared)

2 c sour cream

6 eggs

1/4 c oil

*1 dram of peppermint LoRann if making candy cane flavor

I just use marshmallow creme straight from the jar but it's a messy slice. Perhaps it would be better to stir mini-marshmallows into milk chocolate truffle filling. LoRann makes a marshmallow flavor, so I think I will add that to my cake batter or fudge filling next time.

Hot Cocoa Cupcakes ~ GrandmaG
1 box BC vanilla mix
4 whole eggs
1 C vanilla flavored soy milk with enough Ghirardelli's sweetened cocoa mix to taste for hot chocolate. You might have to warm this up for the chocolate to dissolve.
Add 1 tsp. vinegar to the soy milk mixture to make it buttermilk.
1/3 C canola oil
1 pkg of chocolate pudding mix
4 tsp. imitation chocolate flavoring (it took that much to get it right for me)
1/4 tsp. salt
