Candy Melt/clay Is Crumbling - Help!
Sugar Work By ckeel127 Updated 17 Nov 2011 , 7:42pm by jgifford
I made my candy clay by using the Wilton candy melt and added corn syrup as recommended by all. Some pieces came out great while others are crumbling (it's hard to softened because it just crumbles all over the place). Can I somehow salvage it by adding something to it? Can I add oil/shortening or even more corn syrup or do I have to scrap it and start all over again.
Please help!
Stick it in the microwave on low power for 30 seconds and knead it for a little bit. If you knead it well before it gets too cool, you won't have as much problem with it crumbling.
I know quite a few here on CC say be gentle with it and work in the excess oil, etc., but I get as much oil out of mine as possible while it's still warm. I've made candy for years and candy melts are tough - - they can take the extra handling.
