Isomalt gems....questions.

I'm trying to make the gems for the first time and have a few questions.

First, how the heck do you get the hot isomalt into those teeny tiny cavities?
Also, I want to make some diamonds that sparkle....how do I do this?
Can you add luster or pearl dusts to the candy? Or does it just get absorbed?
What is the best way to attach them? RI? Does the color of RI affect the gem color? (will it show through?).

Thanks for any help....I need it!!

I use the silicon baking cups. I think I got that tip from someone here. The cups bend and you can easily pore the Isomalt into the mold without too much of a problem.
I took a class and the teacher said to add edible glitter to the Isomalt to make them shine, but I have also dusted them with luster dust. HTH

HI, i went to another class on this sunday at swankcakedesign, here. They used a slicone cupcake holder to pour this isomalt in to the little cavities. He started a little drip by pouring some out first until it got to a drip(hope i am making sense.) Then just let the drips fall into the cavities. He squeezed both sides of the silicone cupcake holder as he pours. Of course he had on gloves. We used pixie dust under the gems. We used cmc glue on the part that we used the pixie dust, then glued under the diamond or whatever gem and placed it onto the pixie covered disked . Yes, whatever r/i color you would use, you would see it under the gems. I would not use pearl dust,etc. on the gems. This guy said he uses piping gels to glue on his fondant covered cakes. Or you could also use the cmc glue. hth
