Of course there's a whole world of French cookies out there.

A few years ago, an ex of mine's father would make these French cookies that were absolutely delicious and my family loved them. They were only ever referred to as "French Cookies".

I've trying to search google and what not trying to find these, however without much luck.

I remember a few things about it - it was a brown-ish color, maybe there was maple or molasses in it? There were nuts in it, walnuts maybe? Though this may be an optional ingredient.

When the dough was done, you'd role it long ways, almost like a log. When they were done, they were sort of flat and long.

This a picture of the closest thing I could find from google: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UL2g2fwxu7g/TYZQ2MCQtrI/AAAAAAAAATA/mwRhkI-46-E/s1600/DSC_1692.jpg

I don't think these are it though. The ones I remember were darker and maybe a bit thicker.

Does anyone know the name of this cookie?
If so, does anyone have a recipe for it?

I've been searching for quite some time.

TIA!

Yep, they are called "langues du chats" or "cats tongues" in French. You should find a recipe using those words.

Here is one:

Otherwise they could simply be biscotti?

Thanks for the info, Evoir, but I don't think those are them. icon_smile.gif

I googled biscotti to make sure, and it's not that either.

They are more of a darker brown - maple syrup colored? They have either walnuts or pecans in them as well. But they are that long shape.

I'm still searching through google/google images, but I can't, for the life of me, even find a picture of them.
