Hello all!
Well, I'm in the process of baking my 2nd cake using the Vanilla Butter cake from the Mermaid Bakery (found on CC). Both cakes however have come up with huge cracks in the top!! The first time it was just a straight bake, no baking strips or heating core etc, so I thought I would try that- on go the damp towel strips and a flower nail in the bottom, but there is STILL a huge ugly crack
I don't know what I'm doing wrong as i'm following the recipe to a 'T'. I read somewhere that overbeating your mix can lead to cracking during baking, but the recipe TELLS you to beat well! I'm using the same temp as called for.
I just wondered if anyone has any ideas to prevent this, or if it's just an inevitable part of caking. I will of course level the cake, so I just hope the crack doesn't run too deep!!
Thanks in advance x
