Just something interesting my DH found for me to read. I just wanted to share with fellow CA cakers.

It'd be nice to see a cottage food law in CA, but I have a feeling it's probably going to be the strictest in the nation. CA can't seem to give the "little people" much of a break. Just ask small business owners. But hopefully something will be passed that will help those who would like to bake at home and make a bit of money to help in these hard economic times.
I would love to see a cottage food law passed here, I don't know about Sac. but the county I live in you can't even make home made cookies or cupcakes for the kids school parties ( although if you know the teacher well enough they don't say anything).
@Sunshine0063. Our school district won't allow it either. I believe it's now a California State Law that went into effect a couple of years ago. At our school, it goes hand-in-hand with the nutritional rules regarding snacks and party foods.
I really hope they pass it, otherwise I'm thinking of moving to a state that has it!
I can't afford my rent plus rent of a store front, how can people these days?!?!?
