At Cake International yesterday in my class there were a few cakes that were several tiers but part of the class was no internal supports!
So how can you do a tiered cake with no internal supports?
(and everything had to be edible)
Are you sure they weren't dummies?
It is very possible to stack cakes with no supports (see the Lounge forum for the Sandra Lee thread), but they ain't gonna stand up for long!!!!
Well the competition stated it had to be actual cake, no dummies.
Here's some of them

Probably a stupid question, but when they said internal supports did they mean anything including dowels/straws or did they just mean like fixed supports? That first cake looks like some kind of anti gravitational miracle of it has no supports in it at all!
Not sure you could use rice krispie treats. I think it stated it had to be cake.
It said no internal supports, but if that meant a certain type or not I'm not sure....
No way those cakes (IF reall) - especially the 1st one w/all the trees & castle - could have been constructed w/o *any* internal supports and still stayed standing.
Some tricks could be that they used rice treats or baked the cake until it is DRY/hard as a rock.
