Splenda is a Sucralose, a high potency non-nutritive sweetner. Isomalt is a real sugar in the sugar alcohol family dervied from maltose hence the name. Different melting points, different applications. usaribbon.gif

I also would like to know if splenda would work in buttercream.

It is just too expensive to experiment with.

No, it is a high potency non nutritive sugar known as sucrulose works well in coffee I would not use it for sugar work. I would not experiment with it.

I never had any luck with it even with their recipes, but I believe that Itsacake had some success with it. Perhaps PM'ing her would give you some insight?
