Hello all. I have a bakery and usually when we take cupcakes to an event we carry them in these large cardboard trays covered in plastic wrap. This is always fine and the cupcakes are always displayed on something else for guests to sample. I am in a craft festival in a couple of weeks and they want me to sell cupcakes as one of their food vendors. I am at a loss of what to keep the cupcakes in at the festival. The only thing I can come up with is to pre-package them into 1/2 dozen containers. I thought of taking our 3-4 most popular flavors and letting customers place their order but I cant think of what to keep the cupcakes in in our booth all day. It still needs to be something approved by the health dept. any ideas???

Could you bring them in the boxes you normally use, set some up in a nice display (cupcake tower if you want to display lots or under glass domes like a cake display for a smaller number?) and then serve customers using the cakes from your transport boxes.

I go to an outdoor market from time to time and frequent a bakery who sales there. What they do is have cupcakes in glass domes for display purposes. When you make an order they take the ones out of the boxes and package it to go.

I'm having a hard time finding something that can house the cupcakes at a safe temp (for food safety and icing concerns). I'm in middle GA and it gets HOT......I have no idea what to keep them nor transport them in (as far as large quantities) if we are at an outdoor location. There are a couple of festivals coming up in May, June, and July...avg temp is 90-95 around that time of the year!

That's what we do at events, we use plastic clamshells and sell cupcakes by the half-dozen. Plasticcontainercity.com sells them.

Don't bother with Pooka's post above, it's spam.

I sell at my local farmers market all summer long. I have a display that sits behind plexiglass. My husband built it for me. I then either just hand over an individual one or package in an upside down plastic up for them to take with them. I also use the 6pk clamshells. I buy mine from wesellcoffee.com. I always offer either 3 or 6 flavors and make variety packs with 1-2 of each flavor. They are the best seller. Most people don't necessarily want 6 of one flavor. I do allow them to put together their own varieties if they want but I keep a bunch of the special variety packs all done up and ready to go.

I only use IndyDeb's stable buttercream for my market cupcakes. I've only had them melt ONCE and that was because I was in a weird spot and they were directly in the sun. It's not the heat that melts them, it's the direct sunlight. For me anyway.
