Hello All,From the newbie some more questions, icon_redface.gif
Can I Decorate cookies using royal icing with lines of the flower tip and star tips ? Will in hold ? They say Royal Icing taste bad is there any way to make it taste better ? Any good recipe ? Thank You icon_redface.gif

Yes you can use royal icing to pipe on cookies, not just flood (thin it down for a smooth finished) them.

I've always used the above recipe. You can also add in extracts like vanilla, just make sure it is alcohol based and not oil based.

I made some hobbie horse cookies with royal and after flooding I used the star tip to make the mane and tail swirly and it turned out good! Make sure your consistency is correct.

I don't think royal icing tastes bad. I use it on cookies all the time, and people seriously rave about them.

The best royal icing I've ever tried is Alton Brown's recipe on food network. Seriously, it is a step above all others I've had. Give it a look.

One of my students substituted vanilla flavoring for the liquid in royal icing and the taste was incredible.
