I am making butter pecan cupcakes. I am trying to figure out what frosting to use since the cake itself is pretty sweet. To give you an idea you add 1 tub of BC coconut pecan icing to BC Butter Pecan cake mix. Any suggestions appreciated!

Are you wanting a decorating type icing or drizzle?

I have a fabulous Penuche Icing that is wonderful with butter pecan.
If you want to decorate with piping, I would use your standard buttercream and add some caramel ice cream topping or Butter Rum flavoring. That combination is always a hit IMO.

If you want the Penuche Icing, you can find it on my website under the Pumpkin Cookie recipe.

I've used my regular buttercream on that type of cake with no problem.

You could also do a cream cheese icing or a cream cheese icing with pecans and coconut mixed in.
