Need some ideas - drawing a blank!

I have a potential order to make a 3 tier cake covered in fondant for a wedding. The bride has chosen an abstract peacock feather motif for her invites and as a central theme and wants it to reflect on the cake.

She is looking for something modern and abstract and the peacock motif is in plum and gold.

I am drawing a blank on the cake design. I am thinking making fondant peacock feathers to match her main motif but how do I place it on a 3 tier cake?

Do you have any ideas for this theme/cake design??

Thanks so much for any help!

Could you paint the feathers onto the cake? Maybe just do 1 large feather per tier, kind of across the front of each.
Before you ask- I'm licensed, inspected, insured, and all that jazz.

That is a very neat cake Panel7124!!! thanks! Do you think it will look good on round tiers??

I think the form of the tiers doesn't matter too much. It would just be slightly easier to do it on square tiers IMO .I like a lot this design, saved it in my photos some time ago as I wanted to try something similiar (I don't remember exactly who's design it is - think M. Stewart, but not sure, sorry if I'm wrong). Good luck with your cake if you get the order, I can imagine a very beautiful one with modern peacock feathers motif, hope you'll post the pictures!

I love Peacocks, they are beautiful. I hope I get the chance one day to make one. If for no one else then I'll have to do it for my birthday.

MS Paint is the drawing software that comes by default with a Windows computer.... what do you usually use to draw sketches? Free hand them? TIA!

You might also consider trying something like this: http://msdebbie.homestead.com/painted-cakes.html

This type of design has a more contemporary feel and would lend itself well to the plum and gold colors.
