So I just finished my son's birhtday cake. It's the most recent in my pics. I've never used cake and rice krispie treats together like that in a cake. I was so nervous that you would be able to tell the difference, but it came out really smooth. I did notice that is was kinda tricky to form the head and tail though. I made my krispies up, and smooshed them down and than formed them. Is there an easier way to do this?

I usually buy the premade rkts, then all you have to do is form them. Found it was easier. Was it difficult because the mix was too soft? Did you make them as the box tells you to do it? I think they tell you on here to use less of something (don't remember which ingred) to make it beret for carving and forming. Cake looks good though!

Thanks! The treats were pretty soft. That would likely be why I had to fights with it. I wonder what I should of used less of? Anyone???

As previous poster said, leave out the butter. The taste is pretty much the same. Also the RKT need to be cool. If you try to work with them while they are still warm, they will just stick to you and don't want to hold together. For smaller figures, I have found it is less costly and less of a hassle just to use store bought.

I considered store bought, but everyone knows my cakes for being completly made from scratch. The only thing I don't make on my own is gumpaste! icon_smile.gif I'll have to try leaving out the butter, and letting it cool more first next time.

Thanks everyone!
