I made a really cool toolbelt with tools for the top of a cake...the recipient liked it so much he was wondering if there is a way to "preserve" this piece of art for awhile??? I have never heard of this.

Could I coat it in edible varnish? A spray?

Anyone??? TIA for any help...keep caking...

I've kept things with out doing anything special to them. I currently have some fondant turkey's that are almost a year old. I also have some gumpaste flowers at my mom's house that have been there in a vase for about three years now.

Some colors may fade over time, might look a little dusty, but that's it.
