OK, I have the cricut cake and have a ***** of a time getting it to work properly with gumpaste or fondant. Has anyone had success with either rice paper or wafer paper? What is the difference between the two? Will one or the other meld in with a buttercream cake? I do have frosting sheets, but am looking for something that isn't quite so delicate in the beginning to work with. Any help would be appreciated. I have a cake that I need a lot of "25" on this week. I would need to paint them silver so need to take that in to consideration.

Does anyone have advice? Please.

I did a test with wafer paper. ( I think it was wafer paper). What I found was that it would not stick to a mat . I tried every trick I know, but nothing would work. I even tried using the sticky mat and that did not work. It was like the wafer paper had teflon on the back, it wouls not stick to the mat no matter what I did.

I have great luck cutting gum paste and icing sheets. I use Linda McClures gum paste recipe and Icing Image icing sheets. I find I get the best results with my Silhouette, but I can cut the sa,e products just fine with the Cricut.

I believe rice paper and wafer paper are the same thing. When I use it, it does melt into the cake, but I don't of a way to make it stick to your mat without ruining the paper. However, there is a smooth side and a rough side to the paper. Try flipping it over.

Would shortening work, like you use on gumpaste?
