Well, set up a wedding cake this morning and loved the way it turned out. It was from the Romantic Wedding Cakes from Wilton. Was going to take a pic but realized I forgot my camera agin!!! Luckily my young helper had a camera but will have to wait until she gets the film developed. I'm going to get a pic phone, that way I will always have some form of camera because I always have my phone.

Just needed to vent. I am so mad at myself.

Don't you hate things like that!! At least you had someone there to take a picture, that would have been such a shame if you didn't get any pictures of it!! And pic phones don't do cakes justice!! Maybe buy a disposable one to keep with you somewhere, maybe in the car (if you always deliver your cakes yourself).
Quit beating yourself up though!

just a thought but i just leave a cheap 20.00 digi cam in my car. and this way i always have a cam.. take a look at walmart. they have them

I think that those are great ideas ....Ive done that lots of times and I have a camera phone if it wasnt for that sometimes i wouldnt have any pictures of my cake.....I also have a digital camera at home(when i do my dry run) I always try to take one ahead of time in case i dont do it there. I think that the location pictures always come out better but sometimes a bad picture is better than nothing

My husband said the same thing about phone pics aren't always clear, but I thought something was better than nothing. I think I will look into getting one to keep in my car. Will the hot weather, being closed up in a car hurt it? I think it does effect film cameras but it's been so long since I've used one of those.

It should be okay in a camera bag and out of direct sunlight.

Try asking your customer for a print.

I usually ask the customer for a picture since a photographer takes better pictures. And if you get to know them they might charge you even less than they charge the bride.

I forgot to take a pic of the cake I just did yesterday for a girls' b-day!! I was so mad at myself!!!! So I called the customer and asked if I could pay for a second copy of a pic of the cake if she would take one. You know they take pics of bday cakes! But she didn't seem so thrilled until i said i would pay for it! what is it like 36 cents at Wal Mart to make a copy? i had to vent too! Sorry!

I will ask the family for a print (at my expense), this is the second wedding that I have done for them. One daughter got married last year and the middle one got married yesterday. Hmmmm--I still have one more daughter left in that family. BTW--the one who got married last year just had a baby girl yesterday. She was 1 month early but healthy.

I too keep a camera in my car. just incase! - plus I have two little ones and you never know when they are going to do something cute!
