I am in piping hell.

Two cakes done, but I've hit the wall on this third one. And I need to get working on the fourth one.

Light week for me. It was my birthday on Tuesday so I made my own cake (in my albums here). I don't get to do that much since my younger daughter (and partner) is a caker as well and she usually makes a glorious cake for my birthday. But we had a cake delivery so our family went out to a fancy dinner and I had a very very fancy dessert there. This meant that when we got back into town here I still needed a cake for the celebration here on Tuesday! So I got the treat, for the first time in years, to be able to make my own cake!

I do have a cupcake order this week but it's nothing too big. How about the rest of you???

I have the weekend off. It doesn't happen very often! Just working out some details with two potential clients for January weddings. I'll Probobly start the figures for my sons birthday cake next week. It's a super Mario smash brothers cake. Should be fun!

Hi all! I just finished up a small 2 tier snow white cake with 2 dozen cupcakes and now am working on a simple Batman cake for tomorrow morning. I wish the client wanted little more elaborate design...howeve all she wants is a yellow bottom tier with the logo and a blue top tier with the logo...sigh...

Hey y'all,
Long time since I've been here on a Friday night. Life's been busy/crazy and I haven't had much in the way of cakes. That's changing now--from here to Christmas is almost back to back projects for family & friends.

Tonight I have chocolate cakes cooling. Need to make the frosting & filling so they can settle for decorating tomorrow. It's a garden cake for the DecoPak Disney princesses for my best friend's daughter. Party is late Sunday so I have plenty of time.

Looking forward to a Halloween cake class at the bakery where I've taken my other classes. We're doing a 3D skull cake w/the Wilton pan--making the skull from RKT and then covering in fondant. The class will be doing it as a pirate skull w/a dripping candle on the forehead. I may end up doing another one at home with a more Dia de los Muertos sort of theme.

Beyond that, I have a big project for my grandmother's 90th birthday party. Considering doing a "cake trio" since I can't decide on a single design or flavor and we need to serve a pretty large group.

I just tried out the Wilton 3-D skull pan for the first time the other night. My darling niece & hubby got married on Halloween 13 years ago so I wanted to make the skull cake for their Anniversary. Since it was my first time, I used the pumpkin spice recipe that came with the pan. It was ok, but tasted just like pumpkin spice quick bread, very dense.

I sent it to the elementary school/staff office of my nephew. It was pretty cruddy looking, with just powdered sugar on a purple BC cake board. Tonight he said one of the teacher's wants me to sell her a cake.

By the way, I haven't been able to attach any photos on CC lately. Is it me or the forum?

Hey everyone..........just finished up fondant pumpkins, puppy and cake board for grand-son's Fall Festival cake at his pre-school. Working on a Gingerbread Halloween Haunted House for grand-daughters kindergarten class, and have royal icing whipping in my KA as I speak. I have 4 celebration cakes for next week, and I'm asking myself what I'm doing on the computer when I should be getting in gear.

Happy Birthday from one Kat to another Cat!

Thanx Kat for the Birthday wishes...and thanx for posting to my call of help today!

I have a wedding cake coming up that's buttercream and has M&M's on it horizontal lines and wanted to find out the best way to adhere them to the cake. Kat suggested white chocolate. I've never used this before to adhere anything but flowers and that's been to more chocolate. Anyone else use this for candy or have any other suggestions that might work? I had thought royal but Kat says the chocolate dries very quickly. What are the thoughts out there?

thanx!

Just finishing up my granddaughters 9th birthday cake for tomorrow, its a halloween birthday costume party...she wanted so much on this cake it was hard to come up with a cohesive design...but I wanted to do what she wants. Looks like a gathering for all things halloween on a 10, 6 square 2 tier...the purple and lime green marbled fondant looks cool though. Just mixed cookie dough to make 2 dozen halloween cookies to go to the party as well. I have ghost meringues in the oven finishing up too. Whew, in the morning a Oreo dirt and worm pudding trifle and corn muffins. Huh, and my daughter is making Chili and taco dip...what's wrong with this picture? lol icon_smile.gif Oh well, I love doing it. That's it for this weekend for me. Off to bed soon...hope everyone has a good weekend!

this "simple" Batman cake is kicking my a$$. That's what I get for complaining about it. Covered it in opposite colours and am now recovering it. So much for an early night.

I'm not doing anything at home, but I did quite a bit at work

Day of the dead top

Day of the dead side

Cherry blossoms

I'm not sure what these characters are

Little mermaid w/ flounder and sebastian

Belle and Ariel

I'm kinda eh about the princess cakes, I think Sebastian was the best of them all. Also the 2 cakes kept making me think of the band Belle and Sebastian.

Hey all. This is my first time in cake club!!!

I made an 8'"chocolate WASC cake with strawberry balsamic filling with a chocolate marshmallow fondant.

This was my first time making choco MMF. I made MMF earlier this week and thought I'd try the choc version. It was ok.

But the cake was FAB!!! Rich, moist, chocolately and divine!!!

Is it too early to eat a piece of cake? At least with coffee?

Megpi! LOVE your Day of the Dead cake! TOOOO cool!

Aandkidz...welcome to FNCC! Hope you'll come back each week. Chocolate MMF is good but you have to find the right ratio of cocoa powder to powdered sugar. Too little and it doesn't taste chocolatey enough, too much and it starts to taste...well...sorta chalky. And, no, it's never too early for cake! LOL!
