Need some ideas please! Groom wanted a Groom's Cake - "German Chocolate, three tiers, like his mom's recipe". Not a problem. So, I asked for, and received mom's recipe. Turns out his favorite cake is not German chocolate - it's a Texas Sheet cake, complete with the warm chocolate frosting poured on top of a 9x13! No coconut, no pecans....sigh. Any ideas on how to turn this into a stacked, three-tier cake without it ending up on Cake Wrecks????
Mmmmmmmmmm. I grew up on that cake. My mouth is watering. I am gonna be of no help at all because that seems like a bad memory waiting to happen. You could do it if you cooled the icing first, but then it kinda loses part of its charm. It's a delicious cake, though! Good luck!
When I make that cake the icing is pretty fudgy once it sets up, so maybe you could just use that as the filling, letting it set up good before stacking. (I think I'd practice it first). And I'd use something else on the outside of the cake.
