I just bought some foamcore at the Dollar Store, and I would like to use it for my cakes. The board is about 1/4" thick ~ do I need to double it up? If so, what's the best method for attaching them together? And what is the best method of cutting them ~ scissors, razoer blade, knife? Any information would be helpful!

Really? Doesn't anyone use Foamcore? I would hate to have my cake slide off of it because I didn't prep it the right way...

i use a utility blade.. those ones that u can slide out and then retract.. sort of like what you can use to cut wallpaper.. dont' know what everyone else uses but that works for me.. i think ive heard others say they use some kind of electric hot pen from the craft stores

I glue two pieces together with a hot glue gun to get a thicker, sturdier cake board. For square or rectangle shapes I use a utility blade (like the previous poster). I used to use the same thing for circles but someone mentioned on here about using a circle drywall cutter so I got one and it is a thousand times easier for circles. It doesn't cut all the way through but you just do one side, turn it over and put the middle part in the little hole you made from the other side, do that side and just pop it out by pushing with your hand. I hot glue a 3/8 inch wide ribbon around the edge to hide the cut edges (the 3/8 inch fits perfect with the 2 boards glued together). You can adjust it to whatever size circle you want up to 16 inches. Here's a link to one at Home Depot, looks like the same one I got and I paid about $9 for it. You should be able to find them at any home improvement store.

Has anyone used that new circle cutter by Wilton yet? It came out this year. It's the one that is meant to cut fondant. I wonder if it cuts 1/4 in. foam boards? (aka foamcore)
