My writing on cake is terrible - saw this little gadget in a catalog and just wonder if anyone has used it? How does this work - does it really help?

I've never seen this or know of anyone who uses it.

Just practice even if you don't have a cake order. One Chef Instructor suggested to my class to buy Elmer's glue and put in a paper piping bag to practice. It's a cheap and easy way to do it. However, I find practicing with coating chocolate is better. You can do this on parchment paper and when it dries take it off and reuse it.
