I've heard this name in a lot of posts and would really like to get some, but I can't really find it in.the UK, does anyone know of anywhere? I have found some sheets on amazon, they are A3 size but I'd like a little bigger for making the photo area in this picture
cakecentral.com/gallery/2022819 I did find a forum post on another website where someone was being quoted around £60 per sheet for a big sheet of it!

I dont know where you would find it in the UK but here it is sold in the craft stores you could also try a framing shop they might have it. Here you can also find it in office supply stores.

I certainly understand your frustration. It is the reverse for us......sooooo many wonderful toys in England that cost us an arm and a leg *plus* to get it here icon_smile.gif

I bought my sheets in Staples, I use it sometimes for odd shaped cakes where i can't get a board! I'm not sure the biggest size they do but maybe worth going to their online shop. HTH icon_biggrin.gif

Can I ask you guys how you cut the foam core? When its a circle, how do you cut so that it is symetrical?

I just bought a few sheets on sale at Michaels- and don't want to mess them up by cutting them wrong

^ I use a drywall cutter to cut my foam core into perfect circles. Then cover in paper and contact paper. So much cheaper then buying cake drums!

@allaboutcakeuk excellent I will have a look on there in a minute. Is it just called foamcore?

@kakeladi last Xmas I had slightly the opposite problem that the toys I wanted were in the US lol luckily then my mother was going on holiday so she brought some home for me! I hadn't started cake decorating then, otherwise she may have been bringing home a whole extra suitcase! I don't know why they don't just build a bridge from here to there. It'd make life so much easier. Lol.

This forum/thread may shed some light:

It's also called foamboard, foam board, foam core. Try also checking places that sell supplies for model-building. Architects use it to make mock-ups of buildings and some use it to make hobby "sites" such as castles for your toy soldiers to march around. icon_biggrin.gif

I found these by putting "foamcore uk" in Google.

Learned about the dry wall cutter on here and so love it! Quick sanding after cutting and done! Perfect circle! Thanks CC!

If you search on foamboard uk or foam board uk, you get quite a few sources. Evidently those names are more common in the UK than foam core.

I've been searching for a tool to cut foamcore. Using my tiny little XActo knife is a huge pain.

littlestruedel~~ would you mind providing a link to the drywall cutter you use? I did a quick search, but there are a lot of different models. Thanks!
