Best way to do logos? printer recommendations? etc..

I am taking on a corporate client and doing cookie favors/thank you baskets for them. I need to do their logo which just frankly needs to be printed, not piped. I have never done printing for cookies or cakes before.

Can you please share the best option for this? (1) is there a company I can just order the edible images from without having to buy a printer? who and is it cost effective? (2) if i want to buy a printer, what is the one to buy? i am starting with no knowledge of this type of decorating (3) is there anything i need to know about applying printed icing logos to cookies that would save me some frustration? Do you just put it over royal that has dried?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Amy,

Congratulations on your new corporate client. There is a forum for Icing Images here on CC that is very helpful. The owner of II moderates the forum and is great.

If you think this is a one-time deal, you can order your printed logo sheets directly from II. They say that if you are an infrequent printer it's more cost effective to order printed sheets - I can tell you that the set-up/use of the printer can be quite a hassle so if you think it's a one-time deal I'd just order from them and see what you think before investing.

That said, now that I have my machine functional and reliably printing, my business for this kind of thing has skyrocketed. Particularly for weddings where brides are having custom logos made and using them throughout the wedding. I have a Canon ip3600 that I bought for under $100. The set up (ink, icing sheets, etc.) from II was about $140. They offer a full package and it might be worth the money just to have it all come from one place.
