i normally use McCormick lemon extract in my cakes and bc frosting/fillings but it gets a little costly buying that small bottle all the time. I recently tried the lemon emulsion by Magic Line because the bottle was alot larger but i didn't like the taste at all...is there another lemon flavoring that can be used? help!!

I always use the McCormick extract as well. I am looking for a way to get it cheaper. I will let you know what I find out.

i was searching the internet and i think i've found something!!! i went on www.escofoods.com and found that they sell large bottles of pure lemon extract and it seems like a reasonable price.

NO NO NO!! Don't buy from them. I bought some Raspberry, Pistachio and other extracts from them because of the cheap prices, and they were AWFUL!! Every1 of them tasted like cough medicine, and I ended up throwing them all out!! Don't waste your money!! Trust me!!

What about the real lemon brand lemon juice?
or
What about Lorann oils?

here's my lemon trick, which i saw on an episode of martha stewart (which i never watch, so it was actually more like a minute of martha stewart that i caught while flipping channels): use sugar cubes to scrape the exterior of the lemon (works with oranges too) -- you'll be extracting the oil without the actual zest, so you'll get all the flavour without the peel. you can store these little saturated sugarcubes in the fridge, and when you need to use them, add a tiny bit of lemon juice to dissolve them (and/or squish them with your finger) before adding to your recipe. my lemon bars are amazing, and without little bits of waxy zest to get caught in the teeth. and i like to use a combination of this lemon oil, orange oil, vanilla and almond extracts in my sugar cookies and buttercream. thumbs_up.gif
