Hi! I used to live in Utah! Went to BYU and moved back home to VA last year. Man do I miss those mountains. Where is Syracuse? Before I got into cakes, and when I lived out there, I remember that the guy who did MY wedding cake had to rent out a kitchen to do all his baking/decorating. My understanding is that no matter where you are, if you aren't actually advertising, and are doing cakes only to friends and family and friends-of-friends, you should be fine, even if you charge them. But if you would like to advertise and start a legal business, call the State Agricultural Department OR the Health Department first to see whether you can have a food business in your home. (do a quick internet search for their numbers) It will then also depend on where you live exactly, and the local Zoning Department can tell you if you can have any business in your home or not.

Good luck, and let me know what you find out!! icon_smile.gif
